Phyllis Mains & Holly
As a pup with kids I did play,
but was abused by my owner and ran away.
Now I am loved in my new home,
I have no reason ever to roam.
So with my new brother and sister I now run...
chasing our horses just for fun.
I’m also a hunter and I don’t miss much...
chasing birds, rabbits and such.
And when I get tired I can come inside you know,
where as before I slept out in the snow.
On weekends I get to go for a ride,
my tail happily swishes from side to side.
Another thing I love to do is lay down
and be read a good book by you.
Life is now grand for a rescue dog like me
from chains of my past I have been set free.
—Love, Holly
Amy Laxton / Chris Phillips & Harlie
Miss Harlie has been a part of our lives since September 2007. She is one of 11 Labrador-Husky mix puppies that were born on July 4, 2007. Since Harlie has lived with us, she has grown up loving to play in the park, chase birds and wrestle with Chris. Harlie is really good at playing fetch, swimming and giving lots of love to everyone she meets. Harlie visited Amy’s Nana many times while she was in a rehabilitation center. Before her passing, she commented that Harlie’s visits always made her feel loved and healthy. That’s when we decided to start the training to be a part of the Caring Canine and Paws to Read Programs. The journey has been incredible and we are all excited to meet you and hope to make your reading experience enjoyable.
Susie McCallum & Truckee
Sunny Truckee Trail is 2 years old. He prefers holding down the living room floor to almost anything except dinner. What I have come to learn about him is that his heart is so big and open that if yours isn’t as available he will gladly make up the difference till you are ready. He does really well at his sport of agility and willingly gives his all to run fast and turn quick. Truckee is tall for a Golden Retriever and has light golden fur. He received the best of his parents and turned out quite handsome for a puppy that was built like a beach ball. He looks forward to meeting each and every one of you.
